College Profile:
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) houses eleven departments, covering a wide range of undergraduate specializations in the Arts and Sciences including English Literature & Linguistics ; Arabic Languages, History, Sociology, Social Work, International Affairs, Mass Communication, Psychology, Policy, Planning & Development, Statistics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Public Health, Biomedical Sciences, Sports Science, and Human Nutrition. The College also houses five Master Programs, which are in Environmental Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Gulf Studies, Material Science and Arabic Language. In Fall 2013, CAS launched a PhD in Biological and Environmental Sciences. Additionally, the College offers a Program of Arabic for Non- Native Speakers.

It is worth mentioning that as members of QU, CAS faculty members have excellent opportunities to secure intramural and extramural funding for their research ideas.  Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) is major source of research funding, with individual project funding limit exceeding 1 million/project (5 million exceptional projects) along with student research funding programs. As the national and largest University in the country, Qatar University is the recipient of most of QNRF awards, with many research- active faculty members able to win multiple grants.


Department Profile:
The Department of Humanities, History Program, at Qatar University, Doha, invites applications for one year  position at the level of Assistant/ Associate Professor in Turkish language to begin September 2014. We are seeking a broadly trained applicant with demonstrated teaching excellence and a commitment to scholarship.  Preferably in Turkish language with working knowledge in Arabic and English.
Candidates should be committed to excellence in teaching.  Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in Turkish language with strong quantitative and/or qualitative research skills. Preference will be given to candidates who have a track record of excellent publication and possess the potential and willingness to collaborate with faculty within and across departmental divisions. Priority will be given to candidates who fluent in both Arabic and English.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist and collaborate with course instructors as assigned by Department Head.
Ability to follow up and monitor the academic progress of students who opt to courses offered by  the Department.
Ability to propose academic skills and successful learning strategies in connection with student needs and course-specific requirements. 
4.      Work in collaboration with faculty on strategies to improve student skills
5.      Identify student learning needs and gaps in skills
Ability to support students academically through one-on-one meetings and group sessions.
7.      Collaborate faculty in preparing assessments tools and instruments to measure improvement in student skills
8.      Mark Assessment tasks
9.      Ability to teach Turkish language courses offered by the Department and other relevant departments, College of Arts and Sciences.
10.  Ability to work in teams
11.  Ability to use technology to improve student learning
12.  Assist Program Head with different tasks  required.
13.  Proficiency in Turkish, and working knowledge in Arabic language and English.
Qualifications:
The candidate should hold a Ph.D Degree in Turkish language obtained  at an internationally recognized university.
Experience in teaching a wide range of courses in Turkish and related disciplines.
Competency and involvement in research.
Working knowledge  in Arabic and English Languages
